Profile
Rotoehu Ecological Trust works predominantly in Pongakawa Ecological Area, a sub-area of Rotoehu Forest. It is home to the North Island Kokako and most of the work we do is around looking after this species and increasing its numbers. As part of that work, we have a bait station network throughout our block that we need to keep open, which can involve spraying blackberry. This is weed species that we deal with most frequently, although as we are adjacent to pine forest we also deal with wilding pines, and other forestry weed species occasionally (buddleia, gorse, etc).
